Surround yourself with brilliant people ⭐️
...and learn from those you think know less than you do!

“You Are The Average Of The Five People You Spend The Most Time With”
Jim Rohn
”If you are the smartest person in the room you are in the wrong room”
Confucius
How do these two statements fit together?
They might seem to be at odds.
I personally think:
Surround yourself with brilliant people, but be humble enough to learn from everyone, even those you think know less than you do!
By this, I mean that we can choose the people we hang out with, with whom we spend our time.
We can investe our time with people who are able to stimulate us, from whom we can learn, maybe even in areas completely different from our own, it’s the best way to do it.
👉 In my experience as a Digital Manager and team leader, I was lucky enough to personally select and hire my collaborators, and I chose people much smarter than me, from whom I could learn every day.
From some I learnt technical parts I did not know, others helped me to improve my working approach.
But even when I find myself working with people whom I have not chosen directly and who seem to know less about a particular field than I do, I always try to find out what good things I can learn from them.
📌 The point is that you never stop learning and we can learn something from anyone, if we are prepared to do so.
Yes, because you have to be curious if you want to explore aspects that may seem far from your daily life. And you have to be brave to question yourself and admit that you cannot always know more than others.
People make a real difference and they can help us to grow and improve, as well as - on the contrary - they can take us down with them.
An example? I am sure that you have, like me, a few people who are ‘a bit more negative', who may call you up and dump their frustration on you. This risks leading you into a negative vortex.
🤌 Have you ever stopped to think about what kind of people you're hanging out and whether they add value to your life or are energy detractor?
It may happen that a friend asks us for help in a difficult moment, but if he or she only ever calls us for help, to vent and complain, are we sure that he or she can add value to our lives?
Personally, I sometimes stop and think about who I am surrounded by and, yes, it has happened to me that I have chosen to hang out less with some people because I did not feel they were positive.
Let’s be clear, I have surrounded myself with people who do the most diverse jobs and even with political orientations different from my own, precisely because dialogue can lead to something stimulating and enriching.
When it comes to Digital Transformation, people really do make a difference: their flexibility to change, to adapt to new technologies and changing habits, may or may not enable implementation.
📜 👉 Work colleagues, the people you hang out with, really make a difference in our lives, what do you think?
